That is How I Love You

Football is here!!!  Our family attended the first two Arkansas Razorback football games of the season and our hogs pulled thru to win each one!!!  We love sharing this time of year with our family.  All 7 of us on my husband's side of the family ride together, stay overnight together, and basically spend 24 hours/day together for 2-3 days at each game.  Despite the way it sounds, it really is a blast.  We love it!

Canaan loves football too and has attended a plethora of either Harding or Arkansas games every season since he was 9 months old and he is almost 4!  It seems like he is growing up too fast and I am desperately trying to hold on to him.   I wrote this little poem below of an experience we had last year in the fall of 2007.

It is cheesy...but that IS my middle name. :0)

At Canaan’s favorite pastime,

A college football game

He watched the muscled “big boy run”

And even knew his name.

Then getting too excited

His foot slipped off the stands

He started falling quickly

So I grabbed him with my hands.

His little face, of only 2

Turned to look at me

Mom, don’t hold me so tight

You know I am almost 3!

I know you are I echoed

And you were very brave

But Mama always holds her boy

‘Cause Mama is afraid.

I’m the one who won’t let go

In case you were to fall

I would be right here to catch you

You’re my baby, after all.

So if I hold you tighter

Than you want me to

Just know I am being Mama

And that is how I love you.
